For as long as the human race has existed there have been humans who are different, gifted. The musical prodigies like Bach. The geniuses like Einstein. The inventors like Edison. The Psychics.
History is rife with examples of these extraordinary humans, from the literary genius of Shakespeare to the psychic prowess of Uri Geller. While some have been embraced for their uniqueness, thrust into a permanent place in history, others have remained in the shadows. No less worthy of recognition than their extraordinary peers, these people are forced to remain hidden, out of mainstream society and out of history.
Julien Perrault was one such man. From an early age he displayed an uncanny ability to predict the outcome of events, everything from card games to sporting events. People around him were amazed by this ability at first, but the overall opinion of the boy quickly changed. Those who had been awed by his talents before began to shun Julien, distancing themselves and whispering about the child when they thought the family wasn't listening. As he grew, Julien came to resent the gossip more and more.
It was for that very reason that Julien founded Proprius Academy in the 1812. A small school in a dilapidated building, it was created for the sole purpose of training those with extraordinary gifts. Wishing to protect his students from the hardships he had endured, Julien kept the school a secret. Potential students were lured away from their families with promises of a better life, only to find themselves stuck at the school for years on end. Students were forced to remain on the school grounds year round, where they were pushed to their limits – and beyond. More than one student suffered a breakdown while undergoing the intensive training within the school. Others came to find their powers were more than they could handle. The school's controversial existence continued until the death of its founder in the mid-1800's.
Nearly two hundred years after Julien opened his school another opened in its place. Marica Archer, great-great granddaughter of Julien Perrault, decided to continue her ancestor's legacy. Opening a school in the high desert of Oregon, she set out to find the gifted children of the generation. Perrault Academy was born. Students from around the world were brought to the school to undergo strict training similar to that of the original school.
Since the school's rebirth the students have split into two groups. The mental talents, identifiable by their red uniforms, regularly face off with the blue-uniformed physical talents. Despite rules to prevent violence, fights among students are becoming more and more common. Not only that, but students are suffering the effects of the school's training more than ever before, many succumbing to their powers. In a place where only the strong will survive, the strongest are vying for power. Who will come out on top?
